Discover Nature’s Playground:
Where Biodiversity Thrives, Conservation Comes Alive, and Fun Knows No Bounds
Founded in the year 2000 and officially opening its gates to the public in 2006, Eldoret Animal Sanctuary has become a cornerstone of conservation education and cultural preservation in the North Rift region. Envisioned by its chairman, Rtd. Brig. Wilson Boinett, the sanctuary serves as a living classroom and refuge, celebrating the diversity of wildlife and the rich tapestry of cultural heritage from the Nilotic and Bantu communities.
Our Journey
Eldoret Animal Sanctuary was inaugurated on September 27, 2006, by Ole Kaparo, the then Speaker of the National Assembly, marking a significant milestone in our journey towards conservation and education. Over the years, we have developed a symbiotic relationship with Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) and various museums, adhering to the highest standards of conservation and animal welfare.
Vision of the Future:
Our mission extends beyond the present, with ambitious plans to expand our educational programs, offering guided tours tailored for school groups and the general public. We envision the sanctuary not only as a hub of conservation but also as a foundation supporting the education of children from remote communities, thus fostering a legacy of environmental stewardship and cultural appreciation.
